Goodies for Nurses had a set of typical stock control problems. They use Actinic as their shopping cart software, SageLine 50 for accounting and a Fulfillment House to pick & pack their orders. They wanted to:

  • Prevent online customers from over-ordering based on live stock levels
  • Have an accurate understanding of stock value
  • Update product and stock information between the various systems
  • Automate transfer of order information to the Fulfillment House's Warehouse Management System (Delta)
  • Define new processes for customer returns & other stock adjustments

Our solutions involved:

  • Producing a bespoke version of the ActiveStock core software product to run as a scheduled background process
  • A simple desktop tool to read stock levels and cost prices from the Actinic database and report a stock value
  • Using the same desktop tool to produce import files (csv) formatted for direct import into Sage and Delta
  • Working closely with all the parties involved to map out processes using simple and clear flowcharts

Seasalt is an innovative, ethical family business based in Cornwall, England, and they are now the largest producer of Soil Association certified clothing in the world. They have eleven Seasalt shops in Cornwall, Devon and Guernsey and stockists nationwide. As part of a website redesign, they included ActiveStock to manage their stock and we worked with their designer to customise the javascipt add-on for live stock display. They display the available sizes on each product page and provide a quantity box for each, but they wanted to replace this with a simple "X" when the stock reached zero to show that a particular size was unavailable. The result is a really clear and usable interface for their customer and is an excellent showcase for what can be done with ActiveStock and some simple changes to the javascipt add-on.
